Controller Tester
Plug in or pair a supported gamepad and see every button, stick and trigger live. Includes a stick drift check and a vibration test.
Connect a controller and press any button
USB or Bluetooth. Browsers only expose a controller after a button press.
Still no controller after 5 seconds
Press a face button on the pad; browsers hide controllers until one is pressed. On Bluetooth, make sure it is paired with this computer and not still connected to a console. Safari on macOS and iOS needs the page focused, then a button press. On Linux, a pad in X-input mode is more likely to work than DirectInput.

Three steps. You’re in.
- Connect the controller by USB or pair it over Bluetooth, then press any button so the browser exposes it.
- Press every button and move both sticks and triggers. Compare the displayed inputs with your controller’s mapping and calibration; a value below 1.00 is not a diagnosis.
- Let go of the sticks and press "Check for drift". The page samples for 3 seconds and reports the largest deviation for each stick.
Test for stick drift
Stick drift means a stick reports movement while you are not touching it. This check samples the first controller once per animation frame for three seconds and records the largest absolute axis value. The 0.04 and 0.08 cutoffs are screening heuristics, not manufacturer specifications. Calibration, browser mapping and game deadzones affect whether an offset is noticeable. If the controller disconnects, restart the check.
Repeat the check after moving and releasing each stick, then compare with the controller manufacturer’s calibration instructions. An offset here does not guarantee drift in a console game: drivers, mappings, calibration and game deadzones can change the result. Test in the affected game as well.
PS5, Xbox, Switch Pro support
Compatibility depends on the controller, operating system, browser, driver and connection method. Try a current browser and a USB connection first, then compare Bluetooth if supported. This page displays the mapping the browser reports; it does not maintain a verified compatibility matrix for every PS5, Xbox or Switch controller. Browser vibration support is separate from button and stick support. See the Gamepad API documentation for browser capabilities.
Why some buttons do not show
The page can show only the inputs exposed by the browser and operating system. Reserved system buttons, remapped paddles and manufacturer-specific features may not appear separately. With non-standard mapping, buttons are numbered by index; the stick and trigger labels assume the standard layout and may not match your controller. Missing input can come from mapping, drivers, connection problems or hardware. Compare another supported app before drawing a conclusion.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the page say no controller is connected?
Browsers expose a gamepad only after a button press, as an anti-fingerprinting measure. Press A or Cross. If nothing happens, check that the pad is paired with this device rather than a console, or try a USB cable.
What drift value is bad?
The test highlights values from 0.04 and flags values from 0.08 for a closer look. These are screening thresholds; compare them with your controller’s calibration and the deadzone used by your game.
Can I test two controllers at once?
This page shows the first controller the browser reports. Disconnect the one you have tested to check the next one.
Why does the vibration test say not supported?
Rumble support depends on the browser, controller and driver. A controller can work for buttons and sticks while vibration is unavailable in the browser.
Does this work on a phone?
It may work if your phone, controller and browser support the Gamepad API. Pair the controller with the phone, focus the page and press a controller button. Buttons, sticks and vibration can have different support; try another connection or supported browser if detection fails.
Can I fix stick drift myself?
Try the manufacturer’s calibration and troubleshooting steps first. Check warranty coverage before opening the controller or applying cleaners. A worn module may need professional repair or replacement.
Why do my triggers not reach 1.00?
Trigger ranges can differ because of mapping, calibration, connection mode or hardware. A value below 1.00, or an offset at rest, does not identify a worn component by itself. Reconnect the pad, check the manufacturer’s calibration guidance and compare another supported app or device.
